Once again it was down to Labour and Cooperative Councillors to save the much loved Mobile Library, after the Green Party attempted to wield the axe to the service.
At a packed committee meeting yesterday, Labour and Coop Councillors, Brian Fitch and Warren Morgan set out the case to keep the service on the road, even convincing Tory councillors, whose spokesperson, Cllr Vanessa Brown initially backed the Greens plan to axe.
Cllr Fitch said:
“We are pleased that we have once again given the Mobile Library a stay of execution. The Greens now need to go away and get on with running this much loved service. Perhaps if they stopped their internal squabbling, the residents of the city might get the leadership and services they deserve”
