Labour’s local Deputy Leader Councillor Warren Morgan joined local Labour and Co-operative Councillor Jeane Lepper and over 20 Labour activists from the Holllingdean and Preston area, together with members from Hove, at the busy Fiveways shops in Brighton on Saturday morning 10th March campaigning about the Council’s Budget and the Coalition’s proposals which will devastate the NHS.
Local Labour Party member Pete Gillman said,
“People were queuing up to add their signatures to Labour’s petition calling on the Conservatives and LibDems to ditch their plans for the NHS prior to the crucial votes in Parliament over the next week.
Labour members were out in force distributing leaflets about the Green’s Council Budget cuts and knocking on doors in the Fiveways area talking to residents about their concerns.”
Local Councillor Jeane Lepper added,
“People were pleased to hear about the amendments Labour were able to make to the Council Budget to freeze Council Tax, save the popular mobile library service and reduce the 70% hike in allotment rents proposed by the Greens.”
