Figures out last week show that the Tory led government is failing the people of the city and putting lives at risk over their incompetent handling of the NHS.

It has been revealed that Brighton and Sussex University Hospital trust is in the bottom 16 in the country where patients wait more that 4 hours to get treatment in A+E. The Last Labour government introduced the 4 hour limit in order that patients would be seen quickly in an emergency.

This is further proof that the government should be abandoning its unnecessary top down reorganisation of the NHS, and instead be focussing on patient care and not how many private patients it can get through the door of our hospitals.

Cllr Craig Turton, the Labour and Cooperative Party spokesperson on Health in Brighton and Hove said:

“Patient care should be the number one priority of the NHS, and our hard working healthcare professionals do their very best under very difficult circumstances”

“Labour introduced targets so that patients would be seen, assessed, diagnosed and treated faster than ever before. We all remember the last time the Tories were in charge of the NHS, with people literally dying on trolleys in corridors, and we vowed never to let that happen again”

“These latest figures show that despite what the Conservatives say, The Tories cannot be trusted with our NHS”
