Labour Co-op Back Bid for City TV Channel
LABOUR CO-OP DEPUTY LEADER WARREN MORGAN has today backed a local bid for Brighton & Hove’s very own TV station.
Councillor Morgan, who is also Labour Co-op Lead on Economic Development, is supporting local company ‘Latest TV’ in their bid, which will be submitted to Government before the deadline of September 23rd 2011.
Labour Co-op believes a local TV channel could harness the city’s wealth of creative talent and offer local businesses an opportunity to sponsor and advertise. However, Brighton & Hove faces some stiff competition for a Local TV License, with stations in London, Cardiff, Manchester, Belfast, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham also bidding.
Brighton & Hove Labour & Co-operative Deputy Leader, Councillor Warren Morgan, said:
“Brighton and Hove is a young and vibrant media city of over a quarter of a million people, who are currently failed by Southampton and Kent based regional television.
“A Brighton and Hove based TV channel would release the city’s incredible talent and potential, and meet a very real demand for local content.”
