End council house improvements delay
Back in 2008, Brighton and Hove City Council first put forward plans to transfer 499 of its homes to a local delivery vehicle to raise £28 million and ensure local properties met the Government’s decent homes standard.
However, the scheme has suffered from long delays and costs have run-up to £1.2million.
Labour & Co-operative Leader, Councillor Gill Mitchell said:
“£1.2million is obviously a lot of money and two years down the line tenants still haven’t seen any direct benefits to show for it. Most of this delay is due to the previous Tory administration, so I hope the new Green Council will recognise the urgency for improved council housing in the city.”
