On the 63^rd Birthday of the NHS, Brighton & Hove Labour & Co-operative Leader, Councillor Gill Mitchell, who is also an NHS employee, said:

“Happy Birthday to the NHS and well done to all NHS staff, past and present, for their dedication, skill and professionalism.

“As a Labour Party Member and NHS employee- I will always be proud of the NHS- the greatest example of Labour values in action.

 “I hope the NHS lives to see many more birthdays, but under the Tories its future is under threat; money promised for patients is being wasted on an incompetent top-down reorganisation.

“As former Labour Deputy Nye Bevan once said: ‘The NHS will last as long as there are folk left with the faith to fight for it’ and Labour will continue to fight to make sure our health service has many more birthdays to come.”
