Labour want to review council budget
Labour want to join with the new Green administration in reviewing the council’s budget for this financial year.
The budget was passed by the Conservative administration in March and included around £2.5million worth of Labour amendments which helped protect local jobs and frontline services.
Labour now want to see this budget reviewed to see if further changes can be made to reverse further frontline service cuts.
Brighton & Hove Labour Leader, Councillor Gill Mitchell, said:
“Labour always said the Conservative administration’s budget was an election bribe. It was rushed through with nowhere near enough consultation and was full of smoke and mirrors.
“This is why we forced the Conservatives to make vital changes in the time available to us to protect local jobs and frontline services.”
“We will co-operate with any party where we believe sensible proposals are being made for the city’s best interests.”
