Labour Mayor Elect Chooses To Raise Funds For The Sussex Beacon
Labour City Mayor Elect, Councillor Anne Meadows, has chosen the Sussex Beacon as a Mayoral Charity for her year in office which will start in mid-May. Anne Meadows was backed as Mayor Elect by Labour and Green councillors.
Cllr Meadows said:
“The Sussex Beacon does such a great job for those living with HIV and Aids. It is a privilege to have one of only two care centres in the country specialising in HIV located in my ward of Moulsecoomb and Bevendean. I am keen to do what I can to help raise funds and awareness of this excellent charity that we should feel proud to have located in our city.”
Chair of Sussex Beacon Trustees, Simon Burgess said:
“We are delighted that the Anne has chosen the Sussex Beacon as a Mayoral Charity. The timing could not be better for us as we build our profile into our 20th year 2012. This will help us increase fundraising in difficult financial times, we hope to get as many people as possible thinking about how they can raise funds for us as we work to protect our vital services and update our facilities.”
