Labour & Co-operative Councillor Made Mayor of City
Born and Bred Bevendean local, Councillor Anne Meadows, has been made Mayor of Brighton & Hove.
Anne was congratulated by past mayors, alderman and city councillors in a ceremony at Hove Town Hall and a reception at Brighton Pavilion.
Councillor Meadows will be the city’s Mayor for the next twelve months and has chosen the Sussex Beacon, Brighton & Hove Federation of Disabled and the PDSA as her Mayoral Charities for her year in office.
Brighton & Hove Labour & Co-operative Leader, Councillor Gill Mitchell, said:
“I am so proud of Anne, who will be a fantastic Mayor for the city. I am also pleased for her family, who will share with Anne this delightful experience.
New Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Anne Meadows, said:
“It is such a privilege to be elected as Mayor and an absolute honour to serve the city I love in such a special way.
“I am also keen to help raise funds and awareness of The Sussex Beacon, Brighton & Hove Federation of Disabled and the PDSA .These are excellent charities that do a great job; that’s why I have chosen them to be official Mayoral Charities for my year in office.”
