David Miliband MP, former Foreign Secretary and MP for South Shields, yesterday visited Hove to rally local Labour activists.
As well as meeting with candidates for the upcoming elections, Mr Miliband also spoke to former voters of other parties, include a former Lib Dem candidate who has now switched to backing Labour.
David Miliband MP said:
“These local elections on May 5th are going to reflect how aggrieved people are with the Government and its policies.
“Many people that voted for the Lib Dems or the Tories at the general election now feel let down or even deceived.”
Brighton & Hove Labour Leader, Councillor Gill Mitchell, said:
“It was fantastic for David to drop by Brighton & Hove and meet with local Labour activists who are campaigning extremely hard to prevent another four years of Tory rule in this city on May 5th.
“David and I also spoke to new supporters who are making the switch to Labour from other parties, such as the Lib Dems. It is great to see so many people deciding to make the switch to Labour this May 5th, locally and nationally.”
