Labour Say Congratulations to Brighton & Hove Albion!
Brighton & Hove Labour have congratulated Brighton & Hove Albion following their promotion to the Championship after beating Dagenham & Redbridge 4-3 at the Withdean Stadium.
Earlier this week, local Labour Leader Gill Mitchell, East Brighton Councillor Warren Morgan and South Portslade Councillor Les Hamilton paid a visit to Brighton & Hove Albion’s new home, the AMEX Community Stadium. In fact, Councillor Morgan felt so inspired by the new ground, he signed up for a 2011-12 season ticket on the spot!
Labour backed the Albion project over a decade ago and have continued to show support for stadium plans ever since, unlike some of the City’s Conservative or Green Councillors, who have constantly criticised and wavered in their support for the new stadium.
Local Labour Councillor and Brighton & Hove Albion Season Ticket Holder, Warren Morgan, said:
“Congratulations to Brighton & Hove Albion upon their promotion to the Championship. This is great news for everyone involved with the football club and wonderful news for the city.
“We really enjoyed visiting the AMEX Community Stadium this week. It’s the perfect promotion present for the club, a ground fit for champions and the championship! My grandfather, who stood on the Goldstone’s East Terrace for seventy years having first gone in 1911, would have loved to have seen this new stadium.
“I am also proud that Labour have been totally behind this project since its conception, over a decade ago. We always knew this would be fantastic for the city, unlike some of the Tories or the Greens, who have constantly criticised Albion’s plans and used the new stadium as a political football.”
