Labour Switch Off For Earth Hour!
Brighton & Hove Labour are supporting Climate Week which runs all this week, by committing to switching-off lights, or any other such appliance, for an hour from 8.30pm this Saturday 26th March.
This is in order to celebrate the World Wildlife Fund’s annual Earth Hour, a global campaign to raise awareness of climate change.
Local Labour Councillors will share their Earth Hour experiences via the Brightonhovelabour.com website and also WWF’s Facebook page, so keep an eye out for what your local Labour Councillor got up to!
Brighton & Hove Labour Leader, Councillor Gill Mitchell, said:
“I am pleased that we will be supporting Climate Week 2011 by taking part in the increasingly popular Earth Hour. Climate week is an excellent opportunity to renew efforts towards tackling climate change. It is a chance to share practical examples and inspire others. I welcome the ambitions of climate week and encourage everyone in Brighton & Hove to get involved.”
Labour Party Leader, Ed Miliband, said,
“Climate change is the biggest threat the world faces and whilst politicians have an essential role to play it is people demanding change that has, throughout history, changed the world. Climate Week can bring people together and show how we can all make a difference.”
