Labour welcome sixth form but worry over coalition’s EMA cuts
Councillor Anne Meadows and Councillor Mo Marsh outside the new Brighton Aldridge Community Academy which will soon house a sixth form element. ‘That’s wonderful news but we are worried that the Conservative/Lib Dem coalition is going to make it harder for young people in poorer households to access higher education since they have cut the Education Maintenance Allowance. This means that families will have to find the money out of their household budget.’ said Councillor Anne Meadows.
