Welcome for Connexions Cash
Welcome for Connexions Cash
Pat Hawkes, Jeane Lepper and Christine Simpson, Labour and Co-operative Party Councillors for Hollingdean and Stanmer Ward, have welcomed the cash put back into the Connexions Service as a result of a successful Labour amendment to the Council Budget.
At one stage the whole Connexions Service, which provides support and advice for 16 – 19 year olds, was under threat from the Council’s ruling Conservative Group. The local Councillors campaigned to save the service including the much-valued Dip Connexions centre in Hollingdean (see Argus 4th October 2010).
The Councillors commented; “When we were collecting signatures for the petition supporting Connexions it was clear from peoples’ comments just how much support for there is for Connexions. How irresponsible it was of the Green Councillors to vote against putting this funding back into Connexions in the final vote on the Council’s Budget.”
