Cllr. Bob Carden
I was born in George Street, Portslade, in April 1938. I am the son of Ernest, a former Councillor from 1958-1961.
I was educated at St Peter’s Infants School, Benfield Junior School, Brighton Secondary Technical and Brighton Technical College.
I served an apprenticeship with CVA JIGS Moulds and Tools in Portland Road, Hove. I have worked for various engineering firms in the Brighton and Hove area and have experience as a lecturer at Worthing Technical College.
My last job was as a Quality Assurance Engineer for Le Carbone in Portslade Village until retirement in 2001.
I have served as a councillor for North Portslade since May 1991. I have chaired Planning Committee for three years, was Mayor of Brighton and Hove for 2005-2006 and am Deputy Mayor for 2006-2007.I am at present the oposition spokesperson for Planning.
I am a Sussex Area Committee Member of the CO-OP.
My hobbies are photography and studying local wildlife i.e. badgers, foxes, deer etc. I am a founder member of Mile Oak F C and a former Football referee.I am a Vice president of the Brighton Hove and Worthing Football Assiociation.
