Alan Robins was born and bred in Portslade and has lived here for 53 years. For the past 22 years he has lived in the Easthill area with his partner Val. He attended St Peters Infants School, St Nicolas Junior School, Portslade Secondary School for Boys and was among the first group of pupils to enter the Portslade Community College when the Boys and Girls schools were amalgamated.

When he left school, he went to work for a ‘Paint Merchant’ in Vale Road and has continued to work in this sector. For the last 15 years he has been a sales representative for a major local company.

Alan has always been involved in Portslade activities, playing football for Mile Oak and for Courthope (Now the Village Centre). He is a governor at Portslade Infants School and St Peters School and is treasurer of the Portslade Forum which distributes funds to local good causes. Alan is an enthusiastic member of the Portslade Allotment Society and regular attendee and activist in the local action team. He said, “I believe that I can represent the people of Portslade and make sure that we get our fair share of the City’s resources.”
